BLU-107 Durandal
This bombs are used for anti-runway bombs they penetrate the concrete and blow up making craters that make the runway impossible to use.
How do they work?
They are one of the weirdest bombs that are know to man. First when they are deployed from the aircraft they deploy a parachute that slows it down until its nose is pointed down at the rwy. Then the parachute is seperated from the bomb and a rocket motor is fired geting the bomb up to penetrate the rwy. Then the first 220lb charge is fired and then the second 33lb charge is fired (in the later models the 2nd charge can be programmed to be fired several hours later).
Use of the BLU-107 With the durandals your going to want to make sure of a couple things before you use them.
1. Arming delay is something really small( .5 sec->.1 secs)
2. your going to want to be moving fast over the Rwy something like 350-> 400 kts
3. Alt below 800 over the rwy. I would use radar alt for this due to your baro alt being inaccurate
4. The BLU-107 is a CCIP bomb. If you want to CCRP a antirunway bomb your going to want to use the GBU-31(V)3/B
